Top 10: PlayStation Games Of All Time

Playstation, this name is so sacred in the world of video games. It is even possible to say that the brand has left an even bigger mark than Sega, Nintendo, or Namco. Here is a short history of the 10 best exclusive Playstation games, all generations included!

The true next-gen is here and gives the opportunity to remember what makes a good video game. Sony has always found the right way to offer games exclusive to its platforms and developed by its own studios. These are famous first-party games. Here is the list of the 10 best Sony first-party games since the very beginning.

Sony has indeed a lot of small consoles to their credit. If we already listed the best games available on each of them (PS1, PS2, PS3, PSP, PS4, PS5), now it’s time to wipe the slate clean and focus on the best Playstation games. Here is the list of the 10 best Playstation games of all time!

The Last of Us

It’s hard not to give the first place of this Top to The Last of Us, a game so appreciated by everyone that it is very regularly quoted as one of the best video games ever. So when it comes to the best titles exclusive to Sony and its Playstation, it’s logical that The Last of Us takes the top spot.

An adventure to try on PS3 or PS4 in “Remastered” version, before its sequel The Last of Us Part II on PS4 and PS5.

God of War III

Again, the God of War saga deserves to be on the podium of the best games exclusive to the Playstation. So, it’s hard to choose a title among the quadrilogy already released.

While waiting for the 5th episode, already been confirmed, we still chose GoW III on PS3 for its really hardcore gameplay and not for its scenario which has some small holes.

Uncharted 2 Among Thieves

3rd member of this Triumvirate of the best Sony exclusives, and it’s pretty sure that many would disagree. Although the whole Uncharted saga is breathtaking, especially the 4th, it seems obvious that the 2nd game is still a little bit above.

The pacing is incredible, the graphics are beautiful and the gameplay is still accessible even today. A must-have on PS3.

Rachet & Clank A Crack in Time

3 times is not usual: another ultra-popular saga is signed by Sony and this one includes small jewels as well as colossal failures.

The episode “A Crack In Time” belongs rather to the first category, that of complete successes. The PS3 game has indeed superb gameplay, a scenario featuring Captain Quark in the best way and it’s probably the most humorous Ratchet & Clank of the saga.

Infamous 2

Finally, although the PS3 was not the most appreciated console, the list of Sony’s exclusive games of this generation is enough to make you dizzy.

For this 5th position, and for the 5th time in a row, it’s a PS3 game that is in place: Infamous 2 and its innovative and incredibly fun gameplay, boosted by a scenario that, although clich√©, is enjoyable and engaging.

It gave way to a third game InFamous: Second Son… a bit less appreciated, but finally playable on PS4!

Killzone Trilogy

Don’t ask us to choose between the 3 episodes! Episode 2 seems to be a bit superior to its companions, but fans of hardcore fps with complicated challenges will be served with each Killzone game.

The compilation was released on PS3, but the first Killzone was on PS2, and the second on PSP.

Two other games apart from the Killzone saga exist Killzone Mercenary on PS Vita and Killzone: Shadow Fall on PS4. They are not part of this Top and we advise you to avoid them…

Syphon Filter

The community of this game on PS1, at the time, estimated that only 15 to 20% had bought the game, while all the rest only enjoyed its free demo distributed in other boxes.

One thing is for sure: everyone who has touched this game agrees that it is one of Sony’s best games. Its flaws are numerous, but nostalgia wins in its case! If you have PS1 emulation, we highly recommend you to try this Splinter Cell-like title.

Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale

It was the game we loved to hate: a copy of Smash Bros. with the heroes of Sony games, this Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale was a real purge that has since become a video game classic.

It was released on PS3 and then PS Vita and gives, for the one and only time, the possibility to have protagonists from different universes fight. The result is more cult than great, but we take it!

Gran Turismo 4

It’s normal that the GT saga makes a small pit-stop in this TOP of the best first-party games from Sony. If all its episodes are appreciated, some of them stand out and this is clearly the case of Gran Turismo 4.

Fluid and intuitive menu, exhilarating races, sim-racing mechanics never seen at the time… It’s an almost flawless performance for GT4 on PS2!

Crash Bandicoot 2 Cortex Strikes Back

Playstation’s detractors could argue that if the war of exclusive games has always been won by the Japanese brand, it is perhaps because it is used to producing entire sagas. And in the lot, some games are bound to shine.

And very brightly does it shine, this Crash Bandicoot 2! It is objectively the best of the whole saga, offering a unique depth, great and rich challenges, a not-so-linear story, and fluid gameplay despite the time.

Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back on PS1, then PSP then PS3: one of the best games of its generation!
